3/08/07: I took 63 photos today. After I put the puppies up and downloaded the pix, I saw that none were any good.  It seems on the very first one, one of the puppies licked the camera lens.  Not even photoshop could erase the slobbery smear effect over the pictures.  Hoping for better luck tomorrow!

3/06/07: First I would like to thank those who gave so generously to help defray the costs of getting these puppies healthy.  Without your kindness, it could limit our ability to rescue others in the future.

The puppies are enjoying the sunshine and this warm weather where they can stay out all day and play.   I'm enjoying skipping a few 'potty trips' with them too.  Next week they should be far enough along in their recovery that several of them can start on their 'puppy shots'.  Faith's urinary problem is clearing up but she is still not doing as well as the others.  Elf is still the miracle boy and full of spunk.  Joy is still the adventurer and has convinced Holly to join in so now I am tracking down 2 puppies on their trip from the shop to the kennel in the morning and back again at night.

3/02/07:  The puppies have been in our care for 8 days now.  We have seen tremendous improvement both physically and cosmetically.  Although still pretty bald on a good portion of their backs and necks, the scabs and raw, bleeding skin is healing nicely.  There is actually a sign of new hair growth in some of the healing areas.

The three that were walking on their pasterns are now walking only on their paws as they should be.  The bent hind legs on 4 of the puppies have straightened up also.  Only one is still slightly bent and it is improving daily.  All but one are walking and playing vigorously.

The pneumonia is gone and the suspected parvo seems to have subsided.  The one with the broken rib is no longer crying when he plays or is picked up.  He does not even flinch, so I believe it has healed.

Most miraculous of all is Elf.  He was the runt and in the worst shape.  We literally though he was dead when we arrived home and removed him from the crate.  He is now running around, energetic, playful and always hungry!  He does not even look like the same little weak puppy we never thought would make it.  We can attribute this success to Janice staying up all night for the first few nights feeding him with an eye dropper and then cleaning it up when it came back up.  It took several days before he could hold anything down, but her loving persistence and determination paid off.
